Dementia Carer’s Orientation Workshop
Alexandra Hospital will be organizing the “AH Dementia Caregivers Orientation Workshop (English)”. Details as follows:

Venue : Clinic M (Geriatric Centre), Multi-purpose Hall Alexandra Hospital
Time : 8.30am to 1pm
Fee : Free
The session will be conducted by Alexandra Hospital’s geriatrician and social worker specialising in dementia care. It is necessary for all family carers of patients who have recently been diagnosed with dementia or mild cognitive impairment (within the last 6 months) to attend this workshop.
The dementia orentation workshop serves to:
- inform you of all the dementia programmes and services in Alexandra Hospital
- provide you with the essential information on dementia and caregiving in dementia
- allow you to pose questions concerning dementia
Workshop Outline
This is a “crash course” in dementia specially designed for family caregivers of patients with dementia. Area covered include:
- The medical aspects of dementia eg types of dementia, when is forgetfulness normal and when is it dementis, is dementia hereditary etc
- The stages of dementia – drugs & supplements, non-drug treatments
- Understanding the person with dementia
- Caregiving in dementia
- Dementia services in Alexandra Hospital and in Singapore
