Healthy Times Magazine Anti-Smoking Campaign
Press Release – 24 February 2009
Singapore – Healthy Times Magazine launches its very own anti-smoking drive.
In line with World No Tobacco Day on 31 May 2009, smoking and its harmful effects have become the primary focus of a major new public information campaign launched by Healthy Times Magazine.
Smoking is still prevalent worldwide with nearly 1.3 billion smokers lighting up. Additionally, the habit is still being picked up by those in the under 20’s age group. Through the campaign, Healthy Times Magazine wants to develop awareness of the harmful effects of smoking and the cumulative damage that every cigarette causes.
The campaign also aims to highlight how exposure to passive smoking can have long-term respiratory health consequences.
As part of the anti-smoking drive, Healthy Times Magazine would like you to submit written testimonies/written pledge/videos detailing your experiences concerning smoking, pledge to quit smoking in 2009 and successes in kicking the smoking habit to Healthy Times Magazine Quit Smoking Campaign.
The best entry will stand a chance to win a 1set 3 day 2 night stay at the luxurious Tembok Bali Resort.

Aloha!
Traveling the mainland the last couple weeks from New York to California, I noticed an increase of public smoking everywhere. Understanding that nicotine is an anti-depressant, I wondered how much of an effect the economic down turn is having on the health of people.
Stress is a killer. So are cigarettes. So many people struggling not to down financially right now. But trading mental health for physical health is like playing Russian Roulette.
Thanks for being there to give an assist to folks. I do believe it’s time to stop treating the smokers like criminals. Give some compassion and support them to lead a healthier life. We all know those cigarettes contain many more addictive chemicals than we can spell.
Let’s encourage quitting smoking in a supportive way.
Thanks again for taking up the issue!
