What is a Recession?
Health and wellness comes in various forms – physical health and wellness, mental health and wellness as well as financial health.
Much has been said lately about the world going through a recession.
The economy is making a lot of us out there feel like Christmas cheer is rather short supply.
So what is a recession or what is an economic recession?
A recession is commonly defined as “a negative real economic growth for two or more successive quarters in a year”.
A clear indicator is when the stock market drop based on the belief that businesses will not be as profitable in the coming year or years.
What happens during a recession?
Recessions lead to significant job cuts as consumers stop spending. When this happen, there will be a decrease in economic activity. Unemployment rate will rise as firms will layoff workers in an attempt to stay afloat. Unemployment impacts society economically as well as socially.
How long will a recession last?
To be honest, no one really knows specifically how long a recession will last, how bad will it be, will it lead to a depression or will it bounce back and how soon and quickly.
How can you survive a recession?
That is the question you have to honestly ask yourself. Learn how you can ‘recession-proof’ yourself, your investments, your business, your environment, in areas of:
- your job, career and business
- daily living
- personal finances and credit
- personal investing
